The List: Week 16

This week is going to be abbreviated – I’m headed back to Michigan the second half of this week to get this foot business wrapped up, that leaves 3 dinners, 4 lunches, 4 snacks and 5 breakfasts, so I’m aiming to spend about half my budget.

Here’s what I still have left over from last week: a grapefruit, 2 apples, blueberry sauce, lotsa hummus and a pita, a few English muffins, eggs & milk.

What I have planned for this week:

Breakfast: oatmeal, cereal, English muffin sammies

Snacks: apples, grapes, pita/veggies and hummus

Lunch & Dinner: clam chowder, chef salad


What I’m using that I have already:


Cold stuff

  • Milk
  • Eggs
  • Butter
  • Cheddar cheese (for breakfast sammies)
  • Hummus (for snacking)


  • Oats
  • Cereal
  • Honey & nuts (for oatmeal)
  • English muffins
  • Pita bread (for snacking)
  • Salt & pepper
  • Olive oil & balsamic vinegar (for salad dressing)

My shopping list:


  • Lettuce mix
  • Grape tomatoes
  • Cucumber
  • 3 medium potatoes
  • Carrots
  • Grapes (for snacking)

Cold stuff

  • 1/2 lb ham


  • 1 6.5 oz can clams
  • 1 12 oz can nonfat evaporated milk
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • Plain goldfish crackers (I didn’t want the giant box of oyster crackers)

The vast majority of what I bought was on sale (thank goodness), so I ended up spending $19.51 (woo!). It’ll be a light week for blogging, since I’ll pretty much just be posting the soup. I might also drop in and tell you about my breakfast sammie or chef salad.

What have you guys been cooking? I need to start rounding up ideas for the next few weeks  :)

    • Thanks Bill! It’s crazy how fast the time has gone!! I need to start a quarterly recap or something before it gets outta hand – I have almost 80 meals posted on here!
